To celebrate Earth Day and Earth Month, the City of Palo Alto Utilities department is giving away a free heat pump water heater – efficient and clean. On Tuesday, July 1, they are holding a lottery to choose the winner.
To help with the lottery, Applied Quantum Software has created something new: a publicly available, quantum computing-powered true random number generator! (In the future, quantum computers will save a great deal of energy.)
This random number generator uses custom AQS software, running on the IBM Quantum platform. To our knowledge, this is the first useful, publicly available quantum computing-powered service.
To generate a new quantum random number, click on the link and enter your starting and ending number range in the widget. We will generate a quantum computing-powered true random number and use it to select the lottery result - from the Multiverse to the City of Palo Alto!
This service is an early version of future quantum computer software from AQS, which will have an emphasis on financial services algorithms and financial data integration.
